{"id":156541,"date":"2021-06-30T20:47:41","date_gmt":"2021-06-30T18:47:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focolaremalta.org\/?p=156541"},"modified":"2021-06-30T21:00:12","modified_gmt":"2021-06-30T19:00:12","slug":"kelma-tal-hajja-ta-lulju-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focolaremalta.org\/en\/kelma-tal-hajja-ta-lulju-2\/","title":{"rendered":"July Word of Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#8220;Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well&#8221; (Mt. 9:22).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/focolaremalta.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/JesusHeals.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-156544\" src=\"https:\/\/focolaremalta.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/JesusHeals.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a>Jesus is walking onwards and is surrounded by the crowds: a desperate father has begged him to come to the aid of his daughter who is dying. While he is on his way, another encounter takes place: a woman who has been suffering from an issue of blood for many years makes her way through the people; her physical condition is serious and, in addition,\u00a0 it forces her to limit her family and social interaction. The woman does not call out to Jesus, she does not speak, but she comes up behind him and dares to touch the fringe of his garment. She has a very clear idea, \u2018If all I do is touch his cloak, I will be healed of this suffering that torments me.\u2019And behold, Jesus turns, looks at her and reassures her: her faith has obtained salvation. Not only physical health: Jesus\u2019 gaze brings about an encounter with God\u2019s love.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#8220;Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well<\/strong><strong>.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This episode from Matthew\u2019s Gospel opens up an unexpected perspective for us too: God is always on his way towards us, but he also awaits our initiative so that we do not miss our appointment with him. Our journey of faith, although bumpy and marked by mistakes, fragility and disappointments is of great value. He is the Lord of true Life and wants to share this life with all of us, his sons and daughters, who, in his eyes, are rich with a dignity that no circumstances can suppress. For this reason, today Jesus says to us too:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#8220;Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We can be helped to live this Word by what Focolare founder, Chiara Lubich, \u00a0wrote when meditating on this very Gospel passage: <em>\u2018Through their faith, men and women clearly demonstrate that they do not rely on themselves but trust in the One who is stronger than them. Jesus calls the woman he has healed \u2018daughter\u2019 to show that he really wants to give her not only the gift of physical healing but also the gift of \u00a0divine life that can renew her entirely. Jesus, in fact, works miracles so that we can accept the salvation that he brings.\u00a0 He\u00a0 <\/em><em>embodies<\/em><em> \u00a0the Father\u2019s gift of forgiveness and when this is communicated to men and women, it transforms them. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>How can we live this Word? By showing God our trust in him when we face serious challenges.. Such an attitude certainly does not relieve us of our responsibilities, nor does it dispense us from doing all we can. .. But our faith can be put to the test. We see it clearly in this suffering woman who is able to overcome the obstacle of the crowd that stands between her and the Master (\u2026). We must have faith, then, but\u00a0 faith that does not doubt in the face of difficulties. And, again, we must show Jesus that we have understood the immense gift that he has brought us, the gift of divine life and\u00a0 be grateful to him and correspond to it.\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/gb\/july-3\/#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\"><strong>[i]<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#8220;Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This certainty also allows us to bring salvation by tenderly \u2018touching\u2019 those who are\u00a0 suffering, in need, darkness or feeling lost. This is what happened to \u00a0a mother from Venezuela who found the courage to forgive: \u2018I was feeling desperate for help when I attended a meeting on the Gospel where I heard Jesus\u2019 words: \u201cBlessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/gb\/july-3\/#_edn2\" name=\"_ednref2\">[ii]<\/a>, and \u201cLove your enemies.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focolare.org\/gb\/july-3\/#_edn3\" name=\"_ednref3\">[iii]<\/a> Love your enemies. How could I forgive those who had killed my son? But in the meantime a seed had entered into me and the decision to forgive finally prevailed. Now I can truly call myself a \u201cchild of God\u201d. Recently I was called to a meeting with my son\u2019s killer who had been caught. It was hard but grace intervened.
