Bħal ħafna oħrajn tal-eta’ tiegħi, qed nobdi d-direttivi tad-dipartiment tas-saħħa u f’dawn il-ġimgħat ma ħriġt xejn mid-dar. Ngħix waħdi u ngħaddi l-biċċa l-kbira tal-ġurnata tiegħi waħdi, allura napprezza kull ċans ta’ komunikazzjoni mal-membri tal-familja, mal- ħbieb u ma’ dawk li naqsam magħhom l-ispiritwalita’ tal-unita’. Iżda kien mument tassew sabiħ meta ċempel it-telefon, u nisma’ l-leħen ta’ żagħżugħa tistaqsini kif jien. Kienet waħda mill-Ġen (iż-Żgħażagħ tal-Moviment tal-Fokolari)!
Jien, mara ta’ kwazi 80 sena u ma’ din iż-żagħżugħa għixna mument ta’ komunjoni; stajt naqsam magħha kif qed nipprova ngħix il-mument preżenti u nagħraf il-wiċċ ta’ Ġesu’ msallab fit-tbatija ta’ din is-sitwazzjoni.
Kif qtajt minn magħha ħassejtni tant kuntenta. Mhux biss apprezzajt il-ġest sabiħ ta’ din it-tfajla imma permezz tagħha għaraft ukoll l-imħabba t’Alla għalija.
Din ma kienetx l-unika darba li smajt dan l-istess leħen fuq it-telefon!

[:en]In view of my age, as is the case with many others, I have not gone out of my house during the past weeks, in order to abide by the directives of the Department of Health. I live alone, and spend most of the day alone, so I appreciate every opportunity to communicate with members of my family, with friends and with those persons with whom I share the spirituality of unity. It was really a beautiful moment when the telephone rang and I heard the voice of a young girl who asked me how I was coping. She was a Gen!*
I am an eighty-year old woman, and together with this young girl, I shared a moment of communion. I shared with her how I was trying to live the present moment, and recognise the face of Jesus Crucified in the suffering of the present situation.
When she rang off, I felt really happy. I not only appreciated the beautiful gesture of this young girl, but, through her, I also recognised the love of God for me.
This was not the only time that I heard her voice on the telephone.
