This month’s Word of Life “Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner, for you yourselves were foreigners in the land of Egypt”, challenged me to love my neighbour in a deeper, more complete way.

Pope Leo XIV met with 83 cardinals and bishops, Friends of the Focolare Movement, coming from 40 countries. He invited them to be, within their local Churches and in a world marked by divisions and conflicts, witnesses to a unity capable of building lasting peace.

August 11, the liturgical feast of Saint Claire of Assisi, calls to mind both the first follower of Francis and Chiara Lubich. United by their love for God—despite living in different eras—these two great women share profound commonalities regarding the Christian message and the ability to transcend the conventions of their times.
