[:mt]Ejjew nagħmlu dan il-proponiment: ma’ kull proxxmu li niltaqa’ u ma’ dawk li naħdem għalihom, inġib ruħi bħallikieku kont ommhom.

L-omm tilqa’ dejjem, tgħin dejjem, tittama dejjem, kollox tgħatti. L-omm taħfer kollox ’il binha, ukoll jekk ikun delinkwent jew terrorist.

Infatti l-imħabba tal-omm tixbah ħafna ’l-imħabba ta’ Kristu li fuqha jitkellem San Pawl 1.

Jekk aħna jkollna qalb ta’ omm jew, iktar preċiżament, jekk nagħmlu proponiment li jkollna l-qalb tal-Omm per eċċellenza – Maria – inkunu lesti nħobbu ’l-oħrajn f’kull ċirkustanza.

Imbagħad inħobbu ’l kulħadd u mhux biss lil dawk li huma tat-twemmin tagħna, imma wkoll dawk ta’ twemmin ieħor. Mhux l-Insara biss, imma wkoll ’il-Musulmani, ’il-Buddisti, ’l-Induisti, eċċ. u ’l-bnedmin ta’ rieda tajba. Anki ’l kull bniedem li jgħix fuq din l-art: għax il-maternità ta’ Maria hi universali, kif universali kienet il-fidwa tagħna.

A mother is always tolerant, ever ready to help, always hopeful, ever making excuses for her child. She forgives everything, even if the child is a delinquent or a terrorist.

A mother’s love is like the charity of Christ, of which Saint Paul speaks (see 1 Cor 13: 1-13). If we have the heart of a mother, or more precisely, the heart of Mary, the mother par excellence, we will be ready to love others in every situation.

We will love everyone, not just the members of our own Church, but those of others as well. And not just Christians, but also Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, etc. We will love non believers of good will. We will not exclude anyone on earth because Mary’s motherhood is universal, just as redemption is universal.
